Organic Farms

Most conventional farmers are opposed to changes taking place in agriculture. This is mainly caused by poorly argumented economic reasoning. But when analyzed more thoroughly; organic farming is becoming viable. It may very well become the future of agriculture itself. As our population rises, and the internet grows bigger and wiser, collective consciousness has flourished and much healthier trends are adopted on behalf of our community.

 

Organic farms evidently gain more popularity:

  • Family farmers have changed their perspectives and are leaning towards more environmentally-friendly methods.
  • Organic farms are becoming more and more popular creating a market in parallel with “traditional” super-markets, giving people in city areas easier access to healthier products.
  • Family farms are sprouting all over the countrysides and people are acquiring more knowledgeable skills to obtain their vital elements of nourishment.
  • People consider leaving nature unharmed and living healthier lives, when they are given a choice to do so.

 

Human-beings take health issues into consideration when supplying themselves with food, and are often turning to organic farms, organic farmsmostly in an attempt to slowly halt this destructive habit that humanity has gotten so used to. One can participate in this strong-growing movement by producing some of their own food, even on a terrace or a patio. If enough skill is acquired, food can be shared with others or traded for things someone else has produced. Social alarm is also growing due to excessive pollution of soils and water sources and is easily noticed. Some techniques are becoming more and more efficient, making it easier to produce good amounts of naturally grown foods. Most of these “natural” techniques, where just left behind when things started becoming so easy to obtain through industrial farming.

 

For a farm to be considered truly organic, it takes more work to start up as a farm and compete with other producers, but in the long run; it can become more productive and also create less waste. Pesticides are being replaced with bio-control methods that balance naturally present pests with their natural predators.

 

In general since the rise of the industrial revolution, food production has become more and more reliant on synthetic processes. Chemically produced pesticides and fertilizers had become leading suppliers to the farm industry. Some of these processes unarguably help farmers by saving time and effort, but have terrifying consequences; both on consumers and the environment. Many of these industrial techniques leave out some of the steps taken to obtain food for us humans. This makes the quality of the final product low (at least from a vitalistic point of view).

Common examples of this are animals being fed bye-products. These are poor in nutrients, leading to poor end-products and leaving out some important parts of the natural processes that would take place. This happens with dairy, poultry other meat products and vegetables. People experience the consequences of thriving on fast-foods and depending on genetically modified organisms, they are starting to get worried and need to find solutions.
